eddylab kicks off ISO 19443 certification project

eddylab GmbH has officially began implementing the ISO 19443 quality management standard. Over the coming months, the company will systematically expand its existing management system to meet the specific requirements of the international standard for the nuclear supply chain.

By opting for ISO 19443, eddylab is underlining its commitment to complying with the highest quality and safety standards for products and services in the international nuclear sector. The standard builds on ISO 9001 and adds requirements relating to risk management and the traceability of safety-related products, as well as the introduction of a nuclear safety culture.

Quality for safety-critical applications

"ISO 19443 represents an important strategic step for us in consistently aligning our products and processes with the industry’s high standards,” emphasizes eddylab Managing Director Michael Reiter. “Our core competence lies in the field of ‘inside containment measurement’ – one of the most demanding and safety-critical areas of application in nuclear technology. Against this backdrop, we are continuously expanding our activities in the nuclear industry and, with the planned introduction of the international quality standard ISO 19443, are paving the way for future projects.”

Development and implementation of the certification

The certification process is being driven forward as part of an in-house project. The extremely high standards of the nuclear industry, as set out in the ISO 19443 requirements catalogue, are already largely established at eddylab thanks to the experience gained in recent years:

“We already possess the necessary expertise within the company – both in the areas of product quality and technical safety, and with regard to a nuclear safety culture and an effective organizational structure”, says Emmanuel Laar, project manager and authorized signatory at eddylab GmbH.

The certification project is scheduled for completion in mid-2027.
